Here you will find regular updates of our current learning, ways to help at home and knowledge organisers for each subject. Please have a look at these updates with your child and find time to talk about the new skills and knowledge. Week 4
Another great week in Year 2!
We have been continuing to practise our writing around the theme of pirates, using lots of amazing adjectives to describe the characters and the settings. We are also trying very hard to always remember our full stops and capital letters.
It has been very hot in our classrooms and we have had to drink a lot of water, well done everyone for your patience with the heat, especially in the afternoons. Some children do not have a sun hat at school, this is vital for them to safely access the outdoors during playtimes in the Summer - please ensure your child has a hat and sun cream (apply before school and they can apply more at lunchtime).
Last week we sent out letters about the clothing needed for the play. Please bring the items in a named bag ASAP and ensure each item is named - we will store them in school and use for the dress rehearsal and performances. If you have any difficulties finding items please come and speak to us as we may have spares in school.
Our end of year trip to Cambridge Botanic Garden on the 10th July is fast approaching. Please ensure you have responded to the meal choice for the trip and let us know if you are able to volunteer. The children will need a backpack to carry their lunch and drinks on the train.
Please make sure you have all of the dates in your diary for the end of term, there are lots of events!
Week 3
Year 2 have been hard at work with their SATS! They have finished all but one and we have been really impressed with how resilient they have been! We have also continued to practice our performance which is getting nearer and nearer!
Well done year 2! You are on the home stretch now!
Week 2
We've had a great week! Year 2 have been busy learning the songs, script and actions for their end of year show.
In English, we have started a new story about a pirate. We are learning to write about pirates and treasure using some amazing adjectives, a variety of conjunctions and some interesting similes. We are also trying very hard to remember to use a capital letter and a full stop in every sentence!
Week 5
This week we have been working hard on our play production, implementing props and mastering the songs! not long to go now as the first dress rehearsal to the other children will be next Friday! In Maths they have been working hard to understand tables, tally charts and pictograms to interpret data. In English We are getting closer to writing our own versions of Pirate Tom and have been coming up with our own innovations of the story!

Welcome back year 2!
This week they have been practicing their maths fluency with subtraction and looking at apostrophes in English. They have also begun practicing for their end of year performance which we are already excited to show you!
