Welcome to Clover Class Pages

Here you will find regular updates of our current learning, ways to help at home and topic knowledge organisers. Please have a look at these updates with your child and find time to talk about what they have been doing in class.  If you have any questions or comments please feel free to come and talk to us or email the school office. Thank you for your support, we look forward to working with you and your children.
Week 5

This week we have had an Easter theme with baking and crafts. We made Easter nest cakes which involved melting chocolate and lots of mixing before decorating them. We had lots of fun and made lots of mess with shaving foam and paint which we turned into bunny Easter cards. We also got sticky covering plastic eggs to make a decoration.

There was great excitement when we came to school on Monday. Our caterpillars had spun cocoons and are now changing ready to become butterflies. We think it will happen over Easter. Mrs Toth will take them home and hopefully make a few film clips of them hatching so we can watch those on our return to school after Easter.

HAPPY EASTER! Hope you all have a lovely holiday.

Week 4

This week we have been learning about the lifecycle of a butterfly. We had the very hungry cater[pillar as the sensory story this week, where we had lots of sound effects and explored all the different foods the caterpillar ate. We made our own caterpillars on leaves using pipe cleaners, beads and the hold punch and then made cocoons from winding wool around plastic bottles. We painted symmetrical butterflies by folding the paper in half and creating a print. We have displayed the lifecycle of the butterfly outside the classroom.

We watched a clip of real butterflies on the big screen and are looking forward to our class caterpillars turning into butterflies. We have been watching the caterpillars. They have got very big from munching all their food and now look like they might be thinking about making their cocoons.

We have also been learning about how we can grow plants to eat. We have planted peas and beans and hope to create a sensory garden of plants we can touch, eat, watch and listen to outside our classroom in the coming months.
Week 3

This week we have been looking after the cress seeds that we planted last week. We watered them and put them by the window to get some sun. When we looked at them on Monday some of them have started to shoot and grow green stalks. They have a strong smell too.

Lots of us are becoming very independent with our work in our TEACCH drawers and looking and listening to the adults when we are modelling what to do.

In art we have continued to work on dabbing the paint on to paper to create a picture. We painted leaves like this on Tuesday with different shades of green. We are going to to do the same for blossom flowers with shades of pink and daffodils and tulips with shades of orange and yellow.

Week 2

This week we have had great fun learning a new sensory story, 'Supertato'. We loved adding eyes to all the vegetables in the story and exploring the feel of broccoli, carrots, potatoes, cucumber, and jelly! Someone of us painted with potatoes. Lots of us made our own 'Supertato' and some of us enjoyed playing in the squishy jelly.

We enjoyed going out in the sunshine for Forest School. We planted seeds for Mother's day gifts and explored the feel of mud on our hands and feet.

We have a few new additions to Clover class...5 caterpillars. We are watching them grow as they munch through the food and we will find out what happens next!

On Friday we enjoyed a bedtime story themed World Book Day and we also got to do soft play in our pyjamas!

Week 1

This week we started our 'Growing and Changing' topic with a walk in the Forest School area, taking photographs of nature and taking some natural objects back to look at more closely in the classroom.

We read a story about a tree and looked at pictures of different seasons and added labels to it.

We all were very engaged in the dance session this week with lots of us enjoying the instructional hip hop dance and the dances with hoops, scarves and soft toys.
