As well as the subjects featured below in the knowledge organisers, the children will also be engaging in:
Dance and athletics in PE
Practise of addition, subtraction, division and multiplication
Reasoning - solving word problems involving different aspects of Maths
Writing non-fiction explanation texts about how things work

Week 6

This week we have been revising addition and subtraction as well as getting stuck into music with some fantastic recorder performances for their friendship unit!As we approach the final half-term we have noticed a lot of worries about moving up to ST Mary's. This is totally normal and we will be visiting the site and talking with them more about this next term.
Week 5
We finished decorating our pouches this week! The children worked very hard to sew the fabric together and showed some great creativity in cutting felt to produce some fantastic designs.

We have been adding and subtracting this week, using our knowledge of number bonds to help us to cross ten. Have a go at these ones at home. Draw a blank number line and jump forwards or backwards to add or subtract. Remember to add or subtract to the next tens number first! It has been a challenge...
34+7
23-5
52+19
43-15

We have really enjoyed learning about Islam in RE this half term. The children have shown a great deal of interest, curiosity and respect. We have loved hearing from our Muslim friends in class who have shared their family experiences and knowledge. Please do ask your children to teach you what they have learnt.

Week 4

This week the children have been finishing off their explanations 'hot-writes' for English about torches. They have been using descriptive language and focusing on conjunctions to stick sentences together.

In maths the children have been working hard on place value within 100. Looking at how they can group tens and ones to make calculations easier!

In computing the children made some fantastic animations using stop motion! We saw space chases, crashes and loop the loops! We were very impressed with the teamwork and resilience across year 2!
Week 3
This week has been a challenge! The children have been learning to tell the time; they have needed all of their concentration, perseverance and resilience and have made great progress. Please do have a look at the resources below to help you child read the following analogue clock times - o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. It would be really useful for you to encourage your child to look at clocks with hands at home or on a watch throughout the day and try to spot and read those times. You worked really hard Year 2, let's keep going! :)
Week 2

Year 2 have had their thinking caps back on this week and have been looking at writing explanations. They have been learning about lighthouses and diving into the text to find new words to use in their writing. They have also been revising their place values, allowing them to easily add and subtract numbers within 100.

In computing the children made some fantastic space animations using stop motion with rockets flying across the page, dogfighting and doing loop the loops!

Keep up the hard work.
Week 1
Welcome to the Summer Term! It was great to see everyone again after the break and hear about all their different experiences.
This week we have started learning about stop motion animation in Computing by making our own flip books - maybe you could try this again at home. In DT we had a go at sewing! The children practised a running stitch in preparation for making their own felt pouch. Lots of needles needed to be threaded again and again, and some of our sewing got a bit tangled up, but we all persevered! If you have scraps of fabric and a needle and thread, please do encourage your child to practise this at home, it would be really helpful.
