Meals at Spring Meadow School

Here at Spring Meadow we continually strive to provide the very best for our children in terms of their education and also their meal provision and we are delighted to inform you that we have been awarded a fantastic 5 Star rating in the East Cambridgeshire ‘Scores on the Doors.’ As an infant school, all our children are entitled to a Universal Free School Meal. Our catering team has produced the autumn term menu (see link below) A dessert will be served daily or alternatively, yogurt or fresh fruit will be available. As always, we welcome your comments on our menu and your children’s feedback.

Lunchtime period

Reception lunchtime is 11.45am to 12.45pm
Year 1 and Year 2 Lunchtime is 12 pm to 1 pm
Universal Infant Free School Meals

All Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 children are entitled to a universal infant-free school meal. We would encourage all our families to take this opportunity for their child to enjoy a healthy hot meal each day. Our meals are cooked from fresh produce each day and nutritionally well balanced. A menu is available so parents can view what meal their child is being provided with.

We also support children who bring a packed lunch. We have a very clear packed lunch policy to enable us to support healthy eating in school. Please check this policy before you put together a packed lunch for your child.
Packed Lunches

We have a policy in place to support families. Due to children who have severe food allergies nuts of any kind, including peanut butter and chocolate spread must not be included.

Please label your child’s lunchbox, beaker, and flask. For the sake of safety, please do not send any glass bottles or flasks, or any hot drinks.
Playing at lunchtime

Children are supported at lunchtime to eat their meal safely and in a calm setting with experienced teaching assistants.

Children are provided with outstanding support in the playground. Games and toys are provided daily to all children so they have lots to do, a sports coach is also employed to ensure the children are as active as possible.
