Week 1-
Our topic for this week and next week is to learn that different animals live in different habitats, compare and contrast.
This week we have been reading the "Monkey Puzzle" story and learning that different plants and animals live in different habitats. We have been talking about the woodlands and the children have recognised that there are lots of trees and plants that grow in the woodlands. We have discussed that some of the animals such as owls, foxes, bats and hedgehogs are Nocturnal and that means that when we are asleep, they are awake.
We have been using our cutting and sticking skills to create woodland pictures at night time, and the children picked which animal they had included in their picture.
We have been using various materials, such as grass, moss, straw and fabric to create our own small world habitats and discuss the differences between a farm and the woodlands.
As the weather has been nice this week we have enjoyed being outside playing group games such as "Duck duck goose", supporting their listening skills and ability to follow instructions and their gross motor skills.
Thank you to those of you that joined us for our rhyme time session on Friday. For those who couldn't make it we have been sending our song sheets home so that you can join in with your child's learning at home.
