Autumn

Week ending 17th October

This week we have continued with the story 'The Three Little Pigs'. Children have made collage pigs by tearing up strips of pink paper and sticking them onto a pig. They have also been fingerpainting some pigs. The children have had lots of fun making mud out of cornflour and drinking chocolate, they loved putting their hands in to mix the water into the dry ingredients. Out side we made up bundles of straw for them to use in the paint.
Week ending 10th October

Our new book for the next two weeks is 'The Three Little Pigs'. The children have loved dressing up as the pigs and wolf and acting out the story in their own way. We have made houses out of straw, sticks and paint rolling for the brick house to go on our class display board. At snack time we talked about what we thought the pigs and wolf might like to eat, the children said cake, apples and chips. In our messy tray this week we have had straw, sticks and wooden blocks for the children to make houses for the pigs. Friday morning the children enjoyed waffles for their snack that the PTA handed out. Thankyou to the parents who attended our Rhyme Time this week.

This week we have continued our learning about 'Real Heroes'. The children enjoyed mark making by running plastic emergency vehicles through the paint then moving the vehicles over the paper to see what marks the wheels made, some children also rubbed their hands in the paint and made different marks on the paper. We had a lot of fun in forest school, we found some pine cones and had so much fun practicing our balancing on the rope bridge.
Just a reminder Friday the 10th of October we are doing another 'Rhyme Time', so if you are free come along and listen to our topic story and sing some songs.
Week ending 26th September 2025

Our new book for the next two weeks is 'Real Heroes'. We have been talking about all the different kinds of real heroes from fire fighters to refuse collectors and how important their jobs are. Children have enjoyed dressing up in our role play area that we made as a doctors surgery. They have been practicing their fine motor skills by threading cotton reels onto coloured laces and doing small wooden jigsaw puzzles. Outside the children have been dressing up as firefighters and busy building a fire engine using the large wooden blocks. They have used the foam bricks to make houses so they could pretend to put out the fires. Thankyou to all the adults that attended our Rhyme Time session, it was lovely to see you all.
Week ending 19th September 2025

This week we have continued our learning about bodies and have enjoyed the book 'Eyes, Nose, Fingers ,Toes' for another week. The children had a great dance session on Monday with Sarah from Lane Academy Dance, they listened well and followed her instructions. The children had fun decorating their own gingerbread person with different coloured icing. We drew around one of our friends and then labelled body parts. In the outside area we have exploring what there is to do and have been creating obstacle courses.

Welcome to our Nursery page! It has been wonderful to welcome the new children to Caterpillar's Class. Our new children are settling in well and our returning pupils are enjoying being back. This week we have begun our topic for this half term 'All About Me'. Our book for the next two weeks is 'Eyes, Nose, Fingers and Toes'. The children have been very busy exploring lots of different activities around the setting. We have been looking at our faces in a mirror and talking about what features we have on them. Then the children made there own faces using paper plates and other different materials. We have been singing songs all about our bodies like '1 finger, 1 thumb keep moving' and 'Head , Shoulders, Knees and Toes'.  It has been busy and fun week back!
