Welcome to Lily Class
 
Here you will find regular updates of our current learning, ways to help at home and topic knowledge organisers. If possible please find time to have a look at these updates especially the photographs with your child. Library Day is Wednesday - Please remember your book if you have taken one home.
 
Forest School  is on Friday Mornings - Each child needs Wellington Boots, waterproof trousers and coat and appropriate clothing for the weather.
 
Dance  is on Thursday morning - No special clothing is required.

Week 4

In LIly class we enjoyed  a sensory story called 'Whatever Next by Jill Murphy'. It is a story the class had rememebered from last year and some of them were able to join in with parts of the story which was lovely to hear. In the story the bear enjoyed a sandwich on the moon. We all followed instructions to make our own sandwiches choosing jam, marmite or cheese as the filling. Part of our toic work was learning about the differnt planets. We looked at photographs astronauts have taken of each planet and then has a go at painting planets using water colour paints. 

Week 3

This week L:ily class have bene learning what it is like for astronauts to go into space. We learnt about gravity and watched some clips of differnt items floating in space. In science we made rockets that could fly by blowing into a straw. Lily class love to cook and on Thursday we made moon rock cakes decorated with melted chocolate and chocolate curls. We made tthe curls by peeling a bar of chocolate. We got a little messy on Thursday when we painted lots of different pieces of cardboard to make a role-play sapce centre so that we can pretend to fly to space! 

Week 2

This week Lily class read a story about girl going to watch a meteor shower. We learnt about Meteor showers and then made a meteorite windsock that blows in the wind and painted shooting stars by blowing paint through a straw. We also learnt about the artist Jackson Pollock and found out that some of his paintings look like space. Some of us enjoyed dripping and splatting paint like Jackson Pollock to create our own speace like paintings. Lily class were very exciuted when we said we were cooking again this week. We all had a go at peeling potatoes which was quite tricky before cutting them into wedges. We will cook them on Friday and enjoy eating them in the afternoon with ketchup! 

Week 1

This week in Lily class we have been getting to know new teachers and new friends. We have also started our new topic for this half term 'out of this world' where we will be learning about space. We listened to a sensory story about a boy that wanted to catch a star and created paintings of a galaxy. We all enjoyed making star biscuits and icing them before we ate them as a special snack! In Maths we have been counting in different ways and learning to build 2 digit numbers with a variey of resources. We had a great maths session where we made a bus and counted the people on and off.  We have all be busy making a lovely outdoor area by planting pansies and helping to keep it tidy.
