Autumn 1

Week 4

This week we have been readig 'Real Superheroes'. We have been learning about all the emergency services and what they do to help us. We had a doctors role play tuff tray set up, where the children have enjoyed dressing up as nurses/doctors and using the play medical kit to make the dolls feel better. 

We have been practicing our fine motors skills by scrunching up coloured tissue paper to glue onto a fire picture. Then we coloured a firefighter with his hose and cut both of the things out and stuck them on paper so it looks like the fiefighter is putting out the fire. 

Outside we have been using shaving foam and toothbrushes to clean the dirt off teeth pictures and talking about why it is important to clean our teeth. We have used spray water bottles to put out our chalk fires.

I would like to thank all the parents that wer able to join us for Rhyme Time this week. It was lovely to to see you and the children enjoyed singing the songs they had learnt.

Week 3

This week we have continued reading 'Eyes.Nose,Fingers and Toes'. We drew around the children and they used coloured pens to colour themselves in, as they were colouring we talked about different parts of our body e.g legs, arms, shoulders etc.

On Monday we had dance in the hall, the children all did well and listened and followed the instructions the dance instructor gave.

Children have been rolling out playdough and then using people shape cutters to make. We had a lot of fun with the coloured gloop, we used our fingers to pick it up and watch as it slid through them back into the tray, some used their fingers to make marks in it and then watch as te marks  disappeared.

We have spent a lot of time outside exploring all the different things to do from the mud kitchen to riding the bikes. 

Week 2

This week we have been reading 'Eyes, Nose, Fingers and Toes' and learning that we have different parts on our body. We have been talking about who lives in their house and then the children sat with an adult and drew their family picture, talking about who they were drawing.

The children had a lot of fun using the people shapes to dip in the paint and print on paper, once they had finished they had so much fun rubbing their hands in the paint and making handprints on paper.

Outside they have enjoyed exploring the environment and using the new mud kitchen making lots of muddy food.

Week 1

We have been welcoming our new friends and getting to know each other. Our topic for the next two weeks is 'Me and My Family'. The children have been collaging pictures of themselves, they looked in mirrors at their facial features and then added them to their pictures. They have started to make caterpillars for the class window.

The children have enjoyed getting to know the learning environment inside and outside.

A reminder that on Friday 11th September we have Rhyme Time where parents are invited in to join us.
