Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers
As you will be aware I have been trying to find a safe solution for the fencing near the vehicular gate. The only way to get this work carried out is with something called a local highway Improvement ( LHI) bid . The local authority highways have sought quotes for the railing changes, changes to the path and dropped curb which comes to around £25k budget with the school contributing around £2.5k. The school currently does not have this sum of money and in addition we need the support of Ely City Council to apply for a bid in order to carry out the works, so I am afraid at the moment things have reached a standstill. I will leave Mrs Fielding with this project to decide on the next course of action.
We currently have Parent Governor vacancy. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the school community and all necessary training is provided. If you would like further information, please contact the school office. We will also send out further details at the beginning of next week.
The teaching of phonics is incredibly important for the children, learning to read gives them the best opportunities in life. Our children go into their phonics groups at 9am, they return to their own class at 9.30am. If children are regularly late they miss this important teaching. If you are struggling to get your child into school on time there are things we can do to help, we also have Breakfast Club. If you are struggling please speak to your child’s teacher in the first instance, or you can speak to one of us on the gate. If your child’s attendance falls below 97% you will receive a letter from the school, this includes lateness. If attendance continues to drop, you can be prosecuted as it is a legal responsibility for your child to attend school.
Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes,
Maria Higgins
Interim Headteacher
