Headteacher's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are quickly approaching the end of a busy term, I don’t know how it has passed so quickly. Have you seen Miss Meek’s most recent social media posts? If you haven’t then head over to our Facebook or Instagram Pages as there is cute video from the carol service last week. I am so sad to have missed the Christmas plays this week, everyone has worked hard to create some fabulous memories for you all. Mr Brough tells me they were lovely. Hopefully, I will be covid free again next week to enjoy the last week of term with the children. I am touched that  several of the books on our Amazon Wish List have been purchased, these will make a really difference to the children – thank you, we understand how difficult things are for everyone at the moment. Remember if you are struggling financially come and speak to one of us (or speak to Miss Meek in the office, she will know who to contact) as there is a lot of support for families available. We have tried to share some of this through the Facebook Page as I know this can be a helpful way of sharing information.

Good school attendance is one of the  important factors in ensuring children make progress in school. Attached to your newsletter today is a letter from the Department of Education. I hope this information will help explain what to do if you are worried about your child’s attendance, your responsibilities and also outline how we can help you. Additionally there is a link to the NHS website to help you decide if your child is well enough for school. If you are worried about your child’s attendance please speak to one of us. Our school attendance target is 96% but currently our overall attendance is 92%, which is a concern for us.

Would you like to support our children to be ‘Kind, Knowledgeable, Independent, Creative, Resilient and Inclusive’? – We have a vacancy for a Parent Governors on our Governing Body. You do not need any experience, just a desire to support the school on its improvement journey. You would need to attend around seven meetings a year and carry out a few visits over the course of a term. There is free training available for governors. If you would like to know more come and speak to me on the gate in the morning or get in touch via the school office and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Remember that we finish for Christmas on Wednesday 21st at 3.15pm. The children come back to school on the 5th Janurary.

Best wishes,

Maria Higgins

Interim Headteacher
